On Saturday 24 February 3 Scout teams and 1 Young Leader team left Pentrich at 1pm. Their aim was to get to Kirkby in Ashfield by 6.45pm. All that stood in their way was 5 teams of Catchers!
Five teams of Cubs also set off from South Normanton at 3pm, again aiming for Kirkby in Ashfield by 6.45pm.
Twilight is a man hunt. The start location is known one week in advance but the finish is not revealed to the teams until they arrive at the start on the day. All teams start with 10 lives, and Catchers are released to try and take these lives from them. This is easier said than done as it can be like looking for a needle in a haystack – as two Catcher teams found out!
The weather although very cold was dry and all teams made the finish to be met by hot dogs, soup and chocolate biscuits. Although tired, most had a smile on their faces.
The catchers were not so lucky this year and there were not many catches made during the day. South Normanton won the Scout trophy, Alfreton won the Cub trophy and The Beaver Crew won the Catcher trophy. Well done to all who took part. Time to start training ready for next year!
