Five teams of scouts took part in this year’s Ready, Steady, Cook. There was a last minute venue change from Dunnicliff Wood Campsite to Dunnicliff House due to the recent bad weather but the theme stayed unchanged – A British Regional Meal.

Teams have to produce a 3 course meal on a 2 ring burner. The pudding can brought along ready-made but the starter and main course are to be made during the two hour window, to include all tidying and washing up. Marks are awarded for menu, presentation, teamwork, hygiene, etc.

It was a closely fought contest and the meals produced were very tasty and included broccoli and stilton soup, fish cakes, chocolate bread and butter pudding, and Lancashire hot pot to name but a few.

The judges had a very hard decision to make and were really impressed with the effort that all teams had gone to. They are even looking forward to judging again next year so the food can’t have been that bad!
