On Saturday 24 March 42 beavers from across the District gathered at Tibshelf Scout Hut for their annual sleepover. For some it was their first night away from home. For others they were looking forward to seeing the friends they made last year.

The weather was kind and the sun shone all weekend, which meant that the beavers had a great time at the park and on their nature walk.

This year’s theme was nature and all the craft and games revolved around this theme. We made bird feeders, butterflies, dragon flies, rabbits, ladybirds, insect dominoes and a beaver family tree. We played hunt the insect and duck, duck, goose. The evening ended with the beavers watching a film on a big screen, like being at the cinema!

The beavers spent all weekend smiling and for some the time to go home came too soon. Others were ready to see their mums and dads, brothers and sister, even though they had had a great time with their new friends. All are looking forward to next year’s sleepover!
