Chilly Challenge 2019

12:00 on Saturday 26th Jan Leaders from Pinxton, Alfreton and Tibshelf met up at Tibshelf Scout Hut and started to set up the building ready for 28 scouts and 2 explorers to do an afternoon of activities.

They started off with a 4 mile walk around Tibshelf ponds and up to the nature park and back to the scout hut don’t know who enjoyed the walk more the scouts or the leaders, While they was out the leaders back at the hut was getting tea prepared, with Helen’s camp stew plus jacket potatoes with cheese and beans, They also had a visit from both the DESC and DYC who went through a presentation of Peak and international camp that is happening next year to see how many youngsters would be interesting in going.

During the evening the young people watched a film and started to settle down for the night, on the Sunday they took all the tents down and packed the kit away ready for the next camp.


On the same day South Normanton met at Dunnicliff House and did their own Chilly Challenge, They had 14 scouts, 3 Leaders and an Explorer scout.

They spent the day doing their activities such has walking plus scouting skills.

after they was all fed and watered same as the other groups they settled down in their tents for the night, They also had a visit from the DESC and DYC but they was enjoying themselves to much walking as they wasn’t around.


Even some of the other members of the district team was out doing their own chilly challenge in January, Adi the District Explorer Scout Commissioner was out the weekend before with NESST in Nottinghamshire.
